Truth be told, one of my FAVORITE fall treats is a delicious caramel apple. (BONUS: rolled in toasted nuts). This is my classic October treat, and I've been known to throw back quite a few in a 1-month period. Lucky for me, Washington is known for their delicious apples and finding a good caramel one is not very difficult.
Do you know what other country is known for Apples? Yep - you guessed it, GERMANY! From products like apple wine, schnapps or apple struedel, you can find a perfectly crisp apple anywhere.

I might need to find a substitute for my traditional 'heaven on a stick' treat, and right now it's beginning to look like
FIFI UPDATE:
I found a young Airman named Anne. She just arrived here from California and wants a bicycle.........but can't really afford to buy one. PERFECT!
She doesn't know I'm giving Fifi to her, so I'll surprise her next week at my going away party (I'm having 3 of them!). Don't worry, there will be photos of the hand-off. I'm excited for her to be the new owner, and think this will be perfect for everyone. Thank you blogging friends for all of the condolences, you are all so SWEET and SUPPORTIVE!
xoxo

You'd better hope she doesn't read your blog :-)
I'm so glad you found the right person, make sure you have fun next week!
Caramel apples? Just, no. Don't give me a lovely sticky sweet treat and then try and sneak in healthy fruit, it's just not fair!
yummmmmm! We just made chocholate dipped apples and rolled them in coloured sprinkles to sell in the shop :)
The caramel apples are available for the Christmas markets. Sadly you will miss them, they are great!
I have never eaten a carmel apple, I KNOW, terrible huh. Maybe when you get back home we could meet up for one, and some vintage shopping in WA.
I'm so happy Fifi is going to a good home can't wait to see the surprise!
Take care~

Definitely caramel apples! They are the best... especially when someone else makes them :-D
I will buy you all the caramel apples you want!! Just come home already so I can visit!! LOVE YOU!
that's awesome! She'll be so happy to get Fifi :) Can't wait to read the post about it!
mmmmmmm i love caramel apples too, i haven't seen any great ones since that pumpkin festival and now i'm sad i didn't get one there. good luck finding one my love!
Glad you found someone for Fifi. It sounds like the perfect match! I love caramel apples too. Maybe you can find some caramel candies and warm/melt them into a sauce and dip apple slices into that. Not exactly the same, but close.
I think Apple Strudel is a good substitute choice, Apple pie is one of my favourite things in the world. In fact my blog is named after frequent late-night apple pie dates after nights out...
One of my students who studied in the US last fall came in this week and was so excited to tell me that she had made her own caramel apples the weekend before...in her words "just like we had in the US last year" :-) She was so excited!
