Afternoon Cocktail Party Dress Preview - A Swingin Affair, Palm Springs

Thanks to all of you for the great feedback on love on the GALA dress. With Brande's expert advice, I am set for the gala.

The first event of the day will be held at Frank Sinatra's sprawling rancher home, and there is also a beautiful pool to linger by. For me.....this is the MOST SCARY event as far as dressing goes. I want to look dressed up, but at the same time I want to look fun and approachable. Throw in a vintage theme and mild weather, and you can probably understand my anxiety behind dressing properly.
Frank Sinatra's Palm Springs Estate.

After bouncing around a few ideas of halter dresses, skirts and dressy shorts - I decided to use a vintage dress I already had in my closet. It's bright, has great movement - and with the addition of a belt, gives it a 50's feel.

But now that I'm looking at the photos, I'm feeling underwhelmed. Uh oh....there might be an outfit change. Something white?? What do you think?
Something like this instead?? It's not too late to order...
Or something like this in gray? HERE

Brande.......help!

i like the orange i think it is dressy but casual at the same time and doesn't look too over done or try hard which could easily happen if you went in something all white, that could end up being a bit to marilyn wannabeeish maybe :P

i like the orange too, and agree the first thing i thought when i saw the white was Marylin but i'm not sure that would be a good thing? x

I say stick with the bright and beautiful orange you already have. I think it's just a bit more fun than the white or gray options :)

I like the orange as well! You can bring a light sweater if you feel the need :)

You look lovely in the orange, I also like the white look. Stick with what you have already though cause you look perfect for that type of event.

I really like the dress you have! If you feel that it is a little too understated, then just change your accessories. Maybe a more bling belt, or something other then the hat on your head?

I'd stick with that dress for sure though!

I think you look great and I do love the color but I think I see what you mean, there is something I just can't put my finger on. I think it needs soften up, does that make sense? Maybe what the lovely Helga suggested add a little sparkle to it, glam it up a bit more.

That party is gonna be kick ass, you are going to have a blast no matter what you wear.

Ha ha...this is gorgeous! You have so many wonderful options and they all look AMAZING on you! The bright redish orange dress is an amazing color! If you go with it, I would hike up that hem right to the knee not below for a true 50's style fit. You can even do this yourself with hem-tape you can purchase at any craft store so you can return it to the original hem length after if preferred. I love the gray dress too..the detail ruffles are so pretty..and if you were to go with it, YES I AGREE.. Bling it up!! With silver accents! Play up those sexy legs! Options,options..so many options!
