VINTAGE FIND: Russian Fur Hats - a DO or a DON'T?

I found a Russian-inspired faux fur hat during a recent shopping trip. It is in mint condition and has a comfortable band to fit any size of head. The hat reminded me of Kourtney Kardashian and the look she was sporting last winter. I usually think Ms. Kourtney looks great - but she's a bit 'prostitute-y' with the leopard coat AND leather boots combination.

With a little research I saw that Ashton Kutcher was wearing it too ....

I contemplated keeping it - but then decided it was best to part ways since I would probably only wear it once and scratch my head the entire time.  I listed it on ebay and for my photo I kept it casual with a plaid red flannel from H&M . What do you think? Is it now too casual?

Would you wear this? If yes - how would you style it?

I love the hat! I would soften it up by pairing it with a super soft pink sweater dress and and black boots! BTW I kinda like that prostitute look :) haven't you checked out La Dama's blog?

i wouldn't wear it, but how you styled it looks great. i think with a hat like this it's best to keep it casual. dressing it up could be too costumey.

I would totally wear that hat! I would actually style it kinda like you did! I think it's such a statement piece that you wouldn't want to overdo the rest of what you were wearing. Plus it would look awesome with a great coat.

I agree with your comments that it's too costumey when 'dressed' up. I say prostitutey - you say costumey -it's all the same.

I think I'm going to sell it. Well... someone has already bid on it so it's too late now. At least I have a photo still. However.... it would be a great conversation piece for a winter event.....suck, maybe I shouldn't have sold it. Sigh....oh well.

I would probably wear it. But, it would be a hat I would just throw on to keep my heat covered on very cold winter days, more for practicality than fashion, but to look cool at the same time. I really don't look good in hats, but I don't like cold ears either.

Michelle I think it's awesome, my mum has a real fur coat and matching hat like this and is always good for winter, camping in style, or a dress up!

Hope it sells well

Michelle, you look totally fabulous in the hat, very chic - but if its selling, it's selling! (If I looked that good in it, it'd be a keeper...) Not bothered about Kardashians, or Kuchers. Just like how great you are!
Thanks so much for commenting on my blog. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Russian fur hats are tricky...but you look great it in. I keep thinking that I want a fur trapper but every time I try one on, I feel ridiculous.
Happy New Year!
