I'm Back - and the adventures didn't stop.

I'M BACK!

Wow - I have no idea where to even begin. I am finally getting over the horrible jet lag (along with the gross cold I caught on the airplane), and am now coherent enough begin blogging again. Thank you for being so patient with my 1 week absence........

Last you heard I was leaving Germany and heading for the states. Ever since that post my life has been a whirlwind adventure. From passport drama to taxi cab scandals and rubbing shoulders with a famous Food Network chef - I live to tell you about the crazy journey. Let us begin:

PASSPORT DRAMA:

So after checking in my luggage and processing through the slow security line, I find myself at the customs desk. I open up my passport to the photo page, there is a BLONDE headed girl in the photo - but IT'S NOT ME! I have Sandy's passport in my hand, which means she must have mine. OMG - what do I do? I can't leave the country with hers (she has hot-plans to travel somewhere fabulous soon), and I need my passport to continue on to the airplane. How does this happen? We must have gotten them mixed up on our road trip to France. Suck!

I had no other choice but to exit security (yes, the wrong way - which almost became a posting in itself. Hard to believe, but security guards and custom agents think you're up to something shady when go the wrong way) and frantically call my work and ask them to track Sandy down. Lucky for me me, she was able to get my passport and we exchanged (and hugged again - I think we've said goodbye 10 times) and I caught my plane in the nick of time. Whew!

Now I understand why people have passport covers - it prevents mix ups like this. Unbelievable.

Delirious after a 10 hour flight. Yes, I'm wearing my favorite H&M jacket instead of a uniform. It's probably time to get a new coat, all of my pictures are beginning to look the same......

Once I arrived in BALTIMORE, MARYLAND I was greeted by well-wishers waving U.S. flags and shaking my hand. They said things like 'thank you for your service' and 'welcome home'. They gave me a bag of snacks along with a bottle of water (TG!), and a note card with a link of where I could find my photos. So thoughtful......and incredibly appreciated!

I'm currently in Tacoma Washington and will be here for a couple of weeks before heading home. I can not wait to finally UNPACK and get settled.
