Shopping in Freemont - the FUNKY side of Seattle

Big sis Susan and I spent the day shopping in  the Freemont district of Seattle. This was my first visit, and I am officially HOOKED. The little town is full of funky-vintage stores and cozy coffee shops. Shocker, I know. Coffee and vintage items are the basics of the Emerald City, and I just found the MOTHERLOAD.

Do you remember how I liked to sneak photos of the store interiors in Europe? Well, I decided I should share the love and sneak photos in Seattle too. I'm not sure if I"m getting BETTER with my camera skills or if sales clerks simply stopped caring. There wasn't one case of STINK EYE or the panicked, "HEY, YOU CAN"T TAKE PICTURES" routine. Probably a direct result of the copious amounts of pot being smoked by the locals.

OK - here we go:

Hey, what's this sign? This looks pretty awesome - we're going here first!

More COOL SIGNS for this shop.......you never see the helpful 'FINGER-POINT' sign often enough. It seems that we've 'lazied-it-up' with the simple and boring arrow. ->

(enter the store....hear: Angels singing- aaaaahhhh).......VINTAGE leather cowboy boots perfectly restored and only $48!! Wow -no way.

No... I didn't buy a pair. I'm not there yet with the cowboy look. I know....I know...they are super cute with floral dresses and knee high socks. I just couldn't justify buying more stuff when I knew I had trunks and boxes of Germany purchases waiting for me at home. Next trip.

The other side of the store had amazing vintage pieces laid out in color-coordinate racks for easy browsing. You know how some days you seem to have a color theme to all of your purchases? This layout makes for simple shopping.

Yay, a full length mirror. Yes, that is the same scarf and hat combo you have been seeing non-stop. I promise, I'll start wearing DIFFERENT clothes soon. Living out of a suitcase BLOWS.

Store number 2 (oops, I didn't get the name...). I adore the pink/green combo. The shop had a mix of vintage and new items, with a splash of stationery thrown in for variety.

Cool stuff everywhere. Even the gift wrapping was travel themed.  LOVED.

Now we're on to THE VINTAGE CLOSET. This was a giant warehouse FULL of vintage finds at great prices. I found two dresses here for practically free. I'll post photos of those later as part of a luxurious UPCOMING TRIP I'm dying to tell you about.

I adore vintage hanging lights. They cast the best glow, and often times have the lower disk to keep the glow soft. Crushed gold velvet would actually work in my living room. I'll post photos of rooms at home when I get back so you can get a sense of my home-style.

The store called SHOW PONY was full of gorgeous pieces, but was a rip off expensive. However.....there was a cute dog out front, so this shop makes the blog.
SUMMARY: Down-and-dirty posting of vintage shopping in Freemont. Its funny how I never knew about this district before. I wonder what other things I've been missing out on locally because I've been dreaming about being in Europe or somewhere different.

xoxo
Michelle

Looks like so much fun!! I'm jealous. A friend of mine recently moved to Sette and had been asking me to visit. I can't say no after seeing all these amazing thrift store options :)

WOW! Those vintage shops look so well organized and clean. I just think that's so important when you're having to "dig" anyway. And boots for $48? Total steal!
