Come Find Me!

So where am I? I'm guest blogging today at Jessica's Sugar in My Grits blog! This is part one of my contribution to the 'Women Left Waiting' series.

Here is a posting sample:

"When using the loo, you are forced to completely disrobe which invariably causes the upper half of the uniform to fall to the bathroom floor".

Curious about what else I write about? You can read the rest here:  http://sugarnmygrits.blogspot.com/2011/05/in-military-female-soldiers-view.html

aghhhh im totally tryin to comment on your post at her blog and it wont let me (says the blog cant be found or something!). im glad you wrote what you did though! i was TOTALLY an outcase when i was in the military. i loved clothes, i loved doing my hair, i loved makeup...and it caused ALOT of pain for me many times. then when people saw i was athletic, they kind of stopped the harrassment. but, worst was basic training. people called me "hollywood" because of my super blonde hair and ability to use my red chapstick as blush ;-) which, i totally got in trouble for. and worst of all, nothing intimidates me, so i am not passive and have personality...which was more cause of pain. but over all, i had relatively good experiences. i learned quickly to channel my passion for clothes and all things NOT-military into a part time job at a retail store where i liked to shop. there i met one of my current best friends who now lives in chicago. it allowed me to wear what i wanted and hang out with people who had similar interests as me. it was the best thing i could have done. i unfortunately did not stay in for more than 4 years active duty, but i had a blast nonetheless!

hope u have a great day <3

Hi Megan! It's so comforting to read your comments. Buh-rilliant tip on the red chapstick. HOLLYWOOD - lol, that totally cracks me up. So funny. Too bad we weren't in at the same time - we could have been boot camp besties!

I used to get up in the middle of the night and put on self tanner. No one could figure out why I looked so bronzed all of the time. Oooh the stories......
