Chasing My Own Money Down the Street.

Snack/vending trucks are all over Rome. On Saturday I stopped by one to purchase a small (1/2 the size of a normal American portion) of Peanut M&M's. I know....... I'm in Rome and I'm not supposed to be eating American candy. Actually it was either that or nothing since 'no dairy' in Rome was challenging. Moving on....

I put the teeny-tiny bag of Peanut M&M's on the counter, and as normal - was ignored for a few minutes. Finally 'Mr. Giovanni' decided he would take my money.

I give him a 2e coin (that's about $3.50), and waited for my change.

No change.

What......no way. Seriously? This bag holding 10 pieces of M&M's is going to cost me $3.50?

Forget it.  I can wait it out.

I tell Mr. Giovanni I don't want them anymore and he completely SPAZES out.

All of the sudden there is SHOUTING, and ARMS FLAILING, complete with a death look.

Giovanni then decides to 'SHOW ME MY COIN' and then in an overly dramatic move........ he THROWS IT OUT DOWN THE STREET.

He might as well have been throwing a baseball to the home plate for the winning run. It was that dramatic.

I then exchanged some 'PLEASANTRIES' with Mr. Giovanni (think of a word that rhymes 'mass schmole'), along with some other positive phrases, and then scurried after my coin like a HOMELESS PERSON.

Really??.

This incident paired with the CRAZY SKIRT LADY was all on the same day. How can people be so rude?

Where my blonde hair has been an asset in any other countries, I stood out like a sore thumb in Italy. If people didn't ignore me completely, they were trying to sell me an 'English Speaking' tour of some kind. It got very old, very quick.

Have you been to Mexico where you are constantly badgered to buy bracelets, Chic-lets and time shares? Same thing in Italy. It was NON-STOP.

I think by the end of the Rome trip I was a 'mass-schmole' too. Great. I'm going to get back to the states and start SHOVING people out of the way and YELLING as part of my normal routine.

I will have so many friends.......

xoxo,
Michelle

I shouldn't laugh but I have this image of a wild blonde dervish racing down the street yelling her head off. Awesome :-)

You poor thing how rude. I wuld have probably picked up his M&M's and thrown them down the street and seen how he liked it and yes i would probably have been arrested but thats what the mass schmole deserved.

hahaha awww. Yes it was an annoying incident, and he sounds like a grade A 'mass schmole' but at least it makes for a hilarious story?

Oh my gosh! I just can't even imagine. I guess I'm just used to Texans being (mostly) friendly. But just think how many adventures you've had!

What a great idea - I didn't even think of throwing the M&M's. That would have been funny, but probably a good thing I didn't do it since I probably would have been carted off to jail.

Can you believe this guy? At least it makes for a good story!
