YOU and ME - another exciting conversation

Here's a quick recap for all of my blogging friends:

- I don't like to get dirty
- I am not into sports
- I'm not a camper
- Roughing it is staying at the Holiday Inn

So guess what my next adventure is??

I'm HIKING FOR 3 DAYS in the AUSTRIAN ALPS. Lets have a CONVERSATION about. I'll be ME, and you will be, well......YOU.

Let's begin:

YOU: Wow, you're going hiking? How far are you going?

ME:  There are several trails to choose from, and they range from 5k-13k each. The terrain can be extreme to easy - depends on which route you take. The goal is to hike 5 trails so I get the 'pin'.

YOU: Where will you sleep? OMG - are you tenting it?

ME: Uh...that's a big NO. I'll hike to an Austrian home where the family has agreed to share it with hikers. They feed you and give you a place to sleep for a fee.

YOU: Sounds creepy, kind of like the movie "HOSTEL"

ME: Agreed - it does sound murder-esque, but I'm going with a small group so it should be ok. UH OH.......every scary movie ever made starts with a small group people. Crap.

YOU: Do you even have hiking gear?

ME: As of 1 hour ago, I am the official owner of ugly practical shoes new hiking boots and a lesbian style backpack, thanks to JACK WOLFSKIN and $200.

YOU: When do you leave?

ME: Next weekend. Hey - do you want to guest blog for me while I'm gone?... Yes? Awesome - send me an email at

YOU: You are KU-RAZY. You don't camp, you don't like to be dirty but you're going to huff it for 3 days in the Austrian Alps with a backpack and stay in stranger's homes?

ME: Yes and it is crazy, but I already committed to go so there's no backing out now. It will be an adventure with major bragging rights. I can only imagine what kind of postings and stories will be generated from this trip ('hikers fashion faux pas' and 'whats that smell?' come to mind).

9 days and counting!

I think you're going to have fun! Please be careful! It's so cool that you're getting to stay in a real house. We want to see lots of pics!

I also don't like getting dirty.
I wish I was more like my s-i-l (who is a Girl Scout!). I think the husband would love it if I said, "Honey, let's go camping!" I think he would fall over. :P

P.S. Would love to guest blog for you, but I might drive readers away! ha ha

omg you have I did the camping thing and it was so not cool. Try to tell me where I'm supposed to plug in my hair dryer?? In a tree? Hmmmm, no thanks.

Good on you though, I hope you get some amazing pics. And take a weak friend with you, they generally get picked off first in the movies :) Just kidding!

So jealous, I would be excited and nervous for the same reasons you are. Take lots of pictures!

When my husband and I went to Peru for 2 weeks it was like camping but the beauty of the place and the people was worth every uncomfortable moment and then some.

Be in the moment and enjoy ;)

Have fun and take lots of photos so I can be super envious! Also I bet the scary murder family will at least make you a kick ass last meal! :) The best part about staying in a B&B (that and meeting odd characters)

Lol! I was never much of a nature girl until I moved to Arkansas, but now I love to hike, I'm even getting used to some of the gear, of course, I usually wear one of the very stylish headbands I picked up in Italy. It's actually a dream of mine to design a line of "Fashionable Traveler" accessories....which would include a rugged, but very chic backpack.

Have a great time.

Ugh, I feel your pain. The adventure side of it should be a blast though. All the other stuff... well, hang in there! You'll be fine, provided the family you'll be staying with doesn't... you know... murder you in your sleep or something ;) j/k. Can't wait to hear all about it!
