LONDON - whole food goodness

Now that I'm on my clean-food diet, I can't help but notice how hard it is to find nutritious food 'on-the-go' - especially in Germany. You can only choke down so many apples and Kashi bars before you're dying to eat something different (but still quick). This is when 'diet sabotage' occurs.

London is leading the CLEAN and NUTRITIOUS FOOD movement. Every corner had a GRAB and GO shop that had fresh amazing snacks for a reasonable price. One of the companies that really stood out was 'PRET MANGER' - check out thier menu:

With reasonable prices, Pret quickly became my staple for delicious snacks while shopping. Good news - they have already expanded to the US are in New York and Chicago.

Another place is called EAT - where they promote REAL FOOD. No weird chemicals or preservatives, only real fresh high quality foods at fair prices.

Places like FOOD SECRET allow you to customize your meal and the nutritional value is adjusted so you know exactly what you're eating. No more mystery 2000 calorie meals. I think this is a much needed change and hopefully will move quickly so enveryone can enjoy a better diet without having to haul it from home.

But in meantime- what are your favorite healthy snacks? I'm in a rut and would appreciate your suggestions.

Ahhh yes, I loved Pret A Nanger when I went to London. I think Edamame is hands down my favourite healthy snack at the moment. I'm a bit obsessed with it

I tend to have a small stash of trail mix for munching when I'm hungry and have enough self control to stay away from the biscuits. Trail mix is just nuts and some dried fruit - yum!

I love Pret a Manger! They have them all over NYC now. It's in Paris, but I like the healthy cafe on the first floor of Printemps too! They have great salads.

Jeez,London has improved! We were there in 92 for a few months and struggled to find good, healthy food.Sounds like it's a great place to eat now! Healthy snacks? Carrots & apples,or popcorn with curry powder for me......I'm almost always hungry!xxx

Pret a Manger is always my choice in London too! I love its wraps and the variety! You can even find maki sushi there :)
Although, I do not have anything in mind to advice for a quick snack as I do not buy anything from outside anymore. Some times though I buy sour yogurt milk (if that makes any sense) it's a very thick like cream milk drink with the taste of yogurt. Combine it with some fruit and... VoilĂ !
I got inspired by your diet and I started avoiding all bad and fat food :) Thanks for the inspiration!

EAT looks awesome! I hope restaurants like that will spread, fast!

Well, I guess over here you know that healthy is not always easy to find, either, at least not fast. I do like Panera Bread and their greek sandwiches... I tried recreating one and it worked out pretty well. Mr J and I also like homemade "Bean Burritoes" with whole beans (not refried), alfalfa sprouts, rice, tomatoes, sour cream, guacamole, and overall healthy whole ingredients... even Subway isn't the healthiest of all places :(

A lot of times we look at our favorite (healthy) restaurants and recreate their meals at home... :)

Soooo jealous. I seriously live in BFE and my strawberries are gross by the time I get them home (okay, the next day they get gross)

My favorite (accessible) healthy eats are edamame, fresh fruit, string cheese...and I guess that's it. My diet mostly consists of Dr. Pepper!

I'm not doing so well with a healthy diet at the moment but when I was, meringue nests with low fat yoghurt and a banana used to trick me into thinking I was eating a 'proper' pudding.

Also, I miss London :( I live in the North of England now.
