MODERN FRENCH INTERIOR DESIGN - check out the showroom

In France, I snuck in some photos of the local furniture store. This was in a mall, so not 'HIGH END' by any means - but definitely inspiring. I loved the lights and the splashes of bight colors against the gray furniture.

Notice how low the furniture is to the ground? I probably wouldn't put lime green in my house, but I think it looks modern and fresh here.

Funky yet elegant. I wish I would have gotten a better photo of the light fixtures. It's plastic, but gorgeous and radiates a soft glow against the modern lines of the table and chairs.

Doesn't this look like something from IKEA? I'm not a fan of this one. I think it looks cheap - but I do like the color combo.

IKEA - esque. Playful and inviting.

Simple lines. I like the light gray  - you could do anything with those couches.
The unique shape makes your typical Japanese lantern more interesting.

See the cool lamp shades (hot pink/turquoise)? I was dying to buy the multi colored one, but it doesn't go with anything and I wasn't going to carry a lamp shade around all day. I still love it though.

This hanging lantern inn called 'The Moon' and looked very realistic.

A sampling of hanging light fixtures

These paper mache'/origami domes are gorgeous and I saw these in several restaurants and boutiques. CRAFT IDEA!!!

Would you paint a wall lime green or turquoise in your home? I'm liking the idea of a gray couch....it would go with anything. What do you think?

I'm loving this. It's really inspiring me for when I'm going to decorate my own place. I found this cool tip at a hotel I stayed in: if a room has few windows, get curtains with a cool print/shade of color on it and hang it across the wall with that window. That way, it will look like you have more windows hiding behind the curtain. Makes small rooms seem bigger! By the way, I found a postcard!! It'll be coming your way soon!

Lucky girl - just jaunting off to France! ;) I think that's so cool that there was a furniture store in a mall! My favorite piece was the "moon" lighting fixture. How cool would that be in a little kid's room?

I would *totally* paint a wall (or walls!) in my house a crazy color! I would love to do a crazy color (like hot pink!) in a closet though. What a neat surprise it would be when you opened it up!

Hi Krista! I saw your photo of your front door and love it. It's so flashy against the gray, and a nice change from the traditional 'red'

Hi Sarah Elizabeth! Isn't it amazing what you can do with window panels. I did something similiar to a town house I use to live in. It does wonders for a space when you're not allowed to paint (ie; apartment, dorm room). Hey wait a minute...I live in a dorm room and that would work out brilliantly on my dull boring wall - why hadn't I thought of that sooner. You're brilliant Ms. SE!

The moon lamp is cool. Even close up it looked realistic.

You guys are slowly selling me on a green or turquoise wall........

Thanks for all of the awesome comments!
